Autumn Harvest Yoga Retreat and more...

Greetings friends.

Over this past weekend, I found myself beside a lazy river in North Carolina, and as I lay there with the earth under my back and the sky above, it struck me profoundly that I could not think of anything more powerful than the changing of the seasons. I mean, really. What a stupendous miracle of grander than grand proportions. Throughout the ages, there have been scores of rituals and ceremonies around this particular time of year- to celebrate the abundant bounty of the earth, to rest in waves of gratitude, and to take the time to mindfully transition from the seasons of action into those of rest and surrender. In these busy modern times of doing and consuming, it can often be easy to forget about our most sacred connection to the natural rhythms of the earth, and so, it is increasingly important to take time to listen deeply. To connect to that which is alive and that which is dying. And to align ourselves with that greater force. For me, fall has always seemed to possess access to mysterious wisdom. By way of looking to the earth, we connect deeper to our own hearts, and from our hearts, to the earth. So let us drop out, drop in, and savor. Fall, painted in all of her brilliant colors and star-filled nights, makes it awfully darn easy to do so.
